Welcome to Crystal Cove, a romantic riverfront studio, where you can swim in the crystal clear river, build a campfire, and fall asleep to the sound of 2 waterfalls. This unique lodging affords the chance to spend a romantic weekend getaway without having to board an airplane for those who live in California.  In the winter months, there is a cozy fireplace in the room for your warmth.

Crystal Cove is located along the main fork of the Kaweah River in the center of Three Rivers California, at the entrance to Sequoia National Park, 3 1/2 hours from Los Angeles, and about 4 hours from San Francisco.  Click the "Reservations" tab to the left for an up to date availability calendar.

We named this Crystal Cove because the water is crystal clear, and also of reminds us of Crystal Cove in Laguna Beach (where I had the good fortune to live for one year) in it's 60's style beach cottage construction.  Brick, wood, and glass....

Our riverfront studio is perched on the rivers edge with a fabulous view of the river through floor to ceiling windows or from a cozy deck overlook. Just imagine being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the river. A walking bridge across an inland waterway leads to a private island with waterfalls on both sides. The view takes your breath away. It's a perfect spot for a romantic weekend getaway.

The Studio is charming with lovely furnishings, a propane fireplace, a king size bed with down comforter and pillows. (See interior photos). Professional linen service for the bed and bath are provided. There are ceiling fans, a large sofa, dining table and chairs and a pretty new bathroom with shower.  There is a TV monitor with DVD and CD player, and a selection of DVD's and CD's for your enjoyment.  A small kitchen includes two stove top burners, a coffee machine, fine china, crystal, silverware, pots and pans, a microwave, blender and toaster oven.  The studio is air conditioned. You can BBQ on a propane grill just off the deck overlooking the river.

There is no broadcast television or long distance telephone....there is a local land line for your use.

Down on the island there is a fire pit with an ample supply of firewood to enjoy a roaring fire out under the stars, so bring your guitar. The fire department permits an open fire after the first rains, usually between October and June.

Our vision is to make the studio a cozy and romantic retreat for two. Crystal Cove is suitable for two adults only...sorry, no children or pets are allowed due to the nature of the property. We live upstairs, but do not use the river side of the house when we have guests. The grounds are for your use the whole time you are at Crystal Cove.  Often times we will not be present at all.

From Island back to Studio

The inland waterway comes from a flume which is a 10ft wide elevated aqueduct that carries fresh, clean water from the high elevations of Sequoia National Park into Three Rivers. Just up the street the water drops down to a hydro turbine creating electricity for Southern California Edison, and then joins the main fork as it cascades around the island in front of your room.

Between the roar of the river and two waterfalls, you can hardly hear yourself think. The setting is almost mesmerizing - a perfect place to relax. (See visitor comments). The waterfalls are present all year long.....

If you are going to visit Sequoia National Park, we feel this is the most beautiful, upscale lodging experience available.

If you are looking for quality, this is the place.  It will be more like staying in a personal residence than any other experience in either Three Rivers or Sequoia Park.

See short video clip;      (When you click this it will seem like nothing is happening; it is downloading a .mpg file that takes about 4 -8 minutes and it will then automatically start at the end of the download on RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.  It plays for about 30 seconds; it is not saved on your computer.)
